Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

What is ketamine-assisted therapy?

Ketamine-assisted therapy combines the therapeutic use of ketamine, a medication with rapid-acting antidepressant properties, with psychotherapy and integration support. It works through a different mechanism than traditional antidepressants, often helping people who have not responded to other treatments.

How do I know if ketamine therapy is right for me?

Ketamine therapy is not right for everyone. Lauren conducts a thorough medical and psychiatric evaluation to determine whether it is an appropriate option for you, with an emphasis on thoughtful patient selection, safety, and personalized care.

Where is ketamine-assisted therapy offered?

Ketamine-assisted therapy is offered in person at Deep See Wellness in St. Johns, Florida. We serve patients throughout St. Johns, Ponte Vedra, Nocatee, Jacksonville, and surrounding Northeast Florida communities.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies based on your individual needs and treatment goals. Lauren will recommend a personalized protocol during your consultation, including preparation, the ketamine sessions themselves, and ongoing integration support.

Is ketamine therapy safe?

When ketamine is used appropriately and under the care of a trained medical provider, it has a well-established history of medical use. Like any medication, ketamine can have risks and side effects, which is why careful screening, appropriate dosing, monitoring, and having safety protocols in place are so important.

Lauren has worked with ketamine in clinical practice since 2017 and has experience not only providing direct patient care, but also supporting ketamine safety protocols and provider training. She is also trained in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

At Deep See Wellness, safety begins before your first treatment. Lauren reviews your medical and psychiatric history, medications, and potential risk factors to determine whether ketamine is appropriate for you. During treatment, you are monitored and supported throughout the experience, with established protocols in place should you need additional medical attention.

Does insurance cover ketamine-assisted therapy?

Insurance does not typically cover IV or IM ketamine therapy. Coverage varies by provider and plan, so we recommend contacting your insurance company directly to understand your benefits. Our team is happy to provide any documentation you may need for reimbursement.
